L’Italia reports that the FIFA World Cup will be played in a “different atmosphere” than usual due to the threat of terrorism, and this is due to an increasing number of attacks in the region.

The world cup is due in 2018 in Russia and Qatar, which are currently under threat of terror attacks, the report said.

The report also claimed that the tournament will be held in a different venue, and said that the stadiums used to host the event have already been demolished and replaced with other facilities.

L’Italiano also cited “a high degree of cooperation” between FIFA and the Russian authorities.

The Russian authorities were said to have promised a total of $150m to help in the reconstruction of stadiums, and also pledged $500m in financial support to the host country.
